Roy started his career in the addiction field as a peer counselor for a nonprofit organization and later as a mental health tech at a treatment center in San Antonio Texas. His passion for the field led him to enroll in a program to obtain his degree as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. He quickly moved into a role as an Admissions Coordinator and then as a primary counselor intern at a detoxification/residential program. He also held a variety of positions including Business Development, Director of Alumni Services and Program Director of a detoxification and residential program. His achievements include; chair of the Human Services Club at San Antonio, Vice President of TAAP San Antonio Chapter, Recovery In Motion board member, group leader for the Spiritual Care Network and co-chair of the Hope Rising Conference.
“Community has played a vital role in my own recovery so being able to connect individuals to a community is the reason I work in this industry. I’m just going back into the “forest” to help as many people as I can like someone once did for me.”
